Glass Acid-Etching
A Smooth, Consistent Frosted Finish
A soft, consistently frosted finish is the signature of acid-etched glass, achieved by treating the surface with hydrofluoric acid rather than blasting it with abrasive media. Unlike sandblasting, which creates a coarser, more textured frost, acid-etching produces a smooth, pearl-soft surface that stays consistent over time and resists fingerprints, keeping maintenance simple. The finish diffuses light rather than blocking it, so a space stays bright while gaining privacy. We use acid-etching across doors, partitions, shower enclosures, railings and countertops, anywhere a design calls for privacy without losing natural light, and it pairs well with tempering for doors, partitions and shower enclosures that need both privacy and safety glazing.

Like the rest of our work, each project starts with a design consultation. Please contact us with your project and privacy needs and we can help you decide if acid-etching or another technique is the right fit.
