How To Clean Glass Countertops
So you just completed the installation of your beautiful glass countertop and your home is looking better than ever! Now that you have completed your home design project the next step is to make sure your glass countertops will be looking as good as new for as long as possible. We want to provide you with a few tips to help keep your glass countertops clean without damaging the surface of the glass.
There are many options when choosing the right cleaner for your glass countertop. The benefits of having a glass countertop is that it is tough enough to take on many household cleaners but at the same time it is a non-porous surface which ensures that spills or stains do not stick to the surface. Of course it is on you to use your judgment when cleaning; you don’t want to use anything that could possibly scratch the surface of the glass.
Typically a wet towel or damp rag will be sufficient to remove most stains. Household cleaners or homemade remedies such as mixing baking soda and vinegar are strong enough to remove most stains. Because the glass surface isn’t porous most stains will remain superficial making it even easier to clean.
For some of the more stubborn stains you may have to use either a brush or something with stiff bristles which will help raise the stain to remove it. Bleach has been the go to for most stains as the last resort and is very effective at cleaning tough stains. Glass is a very hard and resilient surface which makes it ideal to use in kitchens and bathrooms. Also it is very sanitary because of its anti-bacteria and mold resistant properties. Most bacteria are not able to bury themselves within it which is why many hospitals also use glass furniture.
